Declare independence from contracts with the State.
Tis’ a shame folks can’t Ghandi out; in absence of large wealth, or the choice of destitution, or monasticism.
I have a strong desire to give the State it’s dog tags back. They won’t let you, is what I’ve heard. Once your in the system your screwed? My fiancee just wouldn’t go for me to deny a possible future childs social security and birth certificate. I think it would be a darned riot to tell the hospital I’m not telling them the childs name because I don’t want the grace of the State on, or involved in his birth.
What would make the best venue for an I.D. burnin’?
IIRC, Mike Gogulski (nostate.com) burned his papers.
If you’re going to have a kid, the last place you want that kid born is a state run hospital. They do keep blood samples from all the kids now, and your blood is a much better identifier than your name or a piece of paper.
Boy! A hippy birth ritual thing or somethin’ outside a hospital might be the best way to stay off the radar? I don’t really care if folks know who I am, I enjoy critique and debate, often other folks calumny is amusing to me. I just want to save my offspring from being property of the state.
By wielding the States property(an I.D.), don’t we bow to it’s rule?
I would really like to stop bowing to the state, it would be ideal if I could get compensated for my labor in only silver, or gold coin. I guess I’d have to be a black market entrepreneur to do that. How would a black-market-entrepreneur avoid violent crime, and the violence of the state?
There is an opportunity cost when people choose to favor the convenience of soft serfdom over the struggle to maintain as much liberty as possible. It’s only “not worth it” to you now because you are probably speculating that things will not be much worse later, or that you can make up the lost time if they go downhill.
There are a lot of things you can do to “fireproof” yourself now. LRC is a pretty good resource for survivalism under the state. Gary North, increase your skills. The gun guys, master self defense. The health articles, learn how to eat whole foods (most of which you can grow yourself) and maintain your health outside the medical establishment. Articles on gold and investing in commodites. The notion of having sound personal finances. International perspectives, reasons to have a passport, and where to travel to escape tyranny when it becomes “worth it”.
Then there are common sense ideas, like knowing your neighbors, establishing mutual aid among friends/coworkers and people around you. Knowing who has what skills, who is trustworthy (and who is not), who has access to what resources. The stuff we tend to ignore in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, but knowledge that if things go bad quick, could be the difference between life and death.
