Burqas in a libertarian society?

Yeah, I didn’t mean to imply that you did. But yeah, I was making the (some what sarcastic) remark that if we are to not allow women to wear burqas because they are anti-liberating, then women should be forced to go naked so that they can be completely liberated. Lol.

=]

Burqas and the Tragedy of the Commons

If somebody is forced to steal, shouln’t the thief be punished?

All thieves should be prosecuted.

Wearing a symbol of woman degeneration is betraying all the brave women that have been raped and/or killed for taking off their burqa and dressing modestly.

Besides, it’s a security problem because you see NOTHING of the person. A hockey mask isn’t like that. Murderers, thieves and other criminals can simply hide behind a burqa.

But its only a symbol of female degeneration to YOU. Not everyone feels that way- including many women. There’s plenty of women that get raped and killed while dressing very skimpy- lets ban all skimpy clothes too?

So then your idea of a libertarian society is where ALL kinds of full cloaks are banned no matter who wears it? No one is very mobile in a burqa either so you’re being pretty silly man.

I meant that women have been killed for taking off their burqa and dressing skimpy. Nobody have been killed for wearing a burqa.

Yes, but as long as you can see the face, it’s not a problem. Not complete libertarianism in other words. Something must be sacrificed for these degenerated women.

Give me an example that a woman is forced, beyond choice, to wear a burqa without violence being involved.

Do you still adhere to the redistribution of wealth? pertinent question.

That’s old-school. To spot a thief, look at the shoes. Bankers wear fancy shoes.

Blah blah blah

Then we should force people to go about naked, that way they won’t be able to hide anything under their clothes.

Is it ok that people dress like soldiers, police officers, or go naked in public?

Damn it! The property rights in all your questions are always ill-defined. Whose “public” are you talking about? Under libertarianism, all property is private, thus it is up to the owner of said land to determine whether people can dress like soldiers, police officers, or naked people. Thus, you ask stupid questions.

Nope, but I don’t think people should be allowed to wear whatever they want in public. It sounds good in theory, but it doesn’t work in real life.

I await responses to my questions towards you.

So are we to have a fashion show and everyone can vote on a societal uniform? What is this? Logan’s Run?

Even Rocky Mountains? How do you buy Rocky Mountains?

smashes face against keyboard.

Homesteading.

So the Rocky Mountains, the bottom of the sea, the sahara desert etc will be public property in a libertarian society, and hence you should be able to wear police clothes here?
