Chodorov on Hitler

I thought that this was a bold and unheard of claim. I loved it.

“In Germany, the social-security philosophy of government led to that moral decadence which facilitated the advent of Hitler. In England, it made a once-proud people into a nation of panhandlers. What will it do to America?”

That quote was based on this.

“When the individual is relieved of the obligation of self-respect, he acquires the habits of helplessness; he is inclined to retreat to the security of the prenatal state. The more he is taken care of the more he wants care.”

This is from Income Tax, the Root of all Evil. I just started reading Chodorov yesterday and I can’t get enough of it.
