As far as I understand libertarian property rights theory, a piece of land becomes your property if you mix your labor with it, e.g. plow a field or build a cabin on it.
But what about property that is specifically designated to be left as it it, as a natural habitat? If I remember reading Rothbard correctly, building a fence around a certain area will not make that area your property. Is there any way, then, to run facilities similar to today’s national parks where customers can enjoy nearly untouched landscapes on a large scale?
A related question, even though it would rather fit into the “tragedy of the commons” section, is: how could a libertarian society prevent the “green lungs of the earth”, the rainforests, from being destroyed?
