If so, does anyone know what their favorite cigar was?
It’s a rather trivial question, but I was looking to see what famous people smoke in terms of cigars and this inevitably popped into my head. Ha, I wonder if Rothbard was an occasional cigar smoker?
Clearly a cigarette, you can see the cherry towards the end. All these vintage shots of European are very stoic, there’s next to no emotion in their faces. Very different pictures contra those of an American Austrian economist like Rothbard.
This picture isnt that bad of Mises, it has emotion. OP, i doubt that you are going to get an answer to your question.

I was surprised not to see more pipe smoking and cigars at MU. I brought my pipe but it felt too out of place to smoke it
Mises is smoking a cigarette in that picture. I recall from the bio ‘My Years With Lu’ that Mises loved smoking cigarettes while studying and hated giving up the habit in his later years. Margret also mentioned that Mises woke early in ritualistic passion taking sometimes an hour to shave (he mentioned that he had “written books [in his head] while shaving”. Though he would spend the majority of his day in his personal office he would dress in suite and tie as if he were going to lecture, he actually regretted ever being seen without a suit (if I recall correctly). A final neat piece of trivia was that Margret mentioned that every morning he would stare at his book collection carefully selecting his book of choice that day.
