Not to long ago, I was at a book signing for Amity Shlaes book The Forgotten Man, and I asked her what she thought of the Austrian explanation of the Great Depression, and she said that recently she had just started to read a lot of Mises and Hayek and found most of it sound to the hagrin of her monetarist upbringing.
“and she said that recently she had just started to read a lot of Mises and Hayek”
Perhaps she should have started before she wrote the book…
She is a CFR member, so I’m pretty sure Mises and Hayek are unmentionable though.
“She is a CFR member, so I’m pretty sure Mises and Hayek are unmentionable though.”
So is Jim Grant, do you reckon he just pretends to be Austrian?
Thanks Alex. Posted this on the Mises blog.
Any other Austrians that are also CFR members?
Rockefeller studied under Hayek in the 30s, so it might be fair to say he understands ABCT, though I wouldn’t say he’s on “our side”, since he’s pushing for a world central bank.
