I own the Scholar’s edition (great job by the Mises Institute) and the French edition (yes, I am French) of Human Action. I wanted the 3rd edition also, to complete the set. So I ordered it from Amazon and just received it this morning.
What a disappointment!
The book in the “Liberty Fund” edition of 2007 is divided into four distinct volumes: parts 1-3/part 4/parts 5-7/Appendix-glossary-index. Instead of holding in my hands one great book, I have four short ones (they are great, allright, but short). Really a pity.
This sad situation made me think that what we need (in my opinion) is a Definitive edition of Mises’ great work. And I mean by this an edition containing all the material written by Mises for the different editions: all the material deleted and added in the successive editions, including of course the very first German edition. I very much hope that this “definitive” edition will someday be published-and in one volume, please!
