Economic at University Advice

I am planning on studying economics at university in 2 years time, when I have to go through interviews.

In the meantime, I want to study economics. I am not sure how to go about it though. There seems to be certain divisons. The Austrian school, neoclassical, Keynesian etc … so I am not sure how to go about it.

How did you all pursue economics as an academic discipline? One after the other?

I’m going to school for economics while reading Austrian works on the side. So you could say that I’m learning mainstream economics and Austrian economics simultaneously.
