Latley, I’ve been considering on whether I should bother staying in the U.S. (& ideally, get to NH at some point), or possibly emmigrate to another country, due to the not optimistic forecasting on where this country is headed (Gerald Celente, articles, etc.)
Reading this article this morning before work made me once again ponder my current situation, & if learning a new language, going through some bureaucracy, moving costs, & finishing up loose ends in education before hand might not be as bad as going through possible hyper-inflation & working just to have food to eat to go to work, etc. (albeit, worst case scenario).
Of course, it’d all be much easier if any one of us knew the future, though. Thoughts?
I’ve had to tune out a lot of the doom and gloom. It can get really depressing.
I’m outta here in the next couple years regardless. I want to go somewhere with better weather and lower taxes. I can exercise free speech on the internet, and I don’t really need a bunch of civil liberties if taxes are low. I don’t do drugs, don’t really drink, religion is a non-issue. Let me keep as much of my money as I can, and give me access to the internet, and I am pretty good.
The FSP has really not excited me. After seeing people get jailed in Keene, then I’m really beginning to question how much progress they have made, and how much strength is in their numbers.
Yea, I am not so sure about the FSP anymore, either. Regardless of my decision, I might try & visit NH sometime to see for myself what they’ve done, but even if I did go to NH, in the absolute worst case scenario, there’s no real guarantee it would better or worse in a certain state over another state in the US (except for maybe California).
Supposedly, Ireland is doing better because of lower taxes & more investment, per this article I got off from a blog, but I wouldn’t say it’s nearly enough for me to consider moving there, although I’m sure it has it’s fair share of nice countryside scenery.
Not sure where I’d want to move (if ever I would).
For me, religion is a huge thing: I’m an atheist and huge anti-theist (as LS probably has already figured out. [:P]). I’m also bi-curious (don’t ask). As such, civil rights are a pretty big deal for me (So obviously Saudi Arabia is out of the question, as it’s punishable by death to be either gay, or an atheist there, last time I heard). I’d like low taxes (doesn’t everyone, well, minus the socialists/hardcore Marxists? [;)]) too, but if I have to choose between a higher tax rate, and financial privacy, I’ll pick the latter. Having an English Speaking population would be a huge plus, but…well…beggars can’t be choosers.
Hong Kong: (Some English speaking, huge growht rate, most economically free, tied to China’s economy (I’ve been told they have the largest amount of atheists in China.).
Don’t know about civil rights in either country, but I say Ireland had a perfect score along with the USA in terms of social freedom. Sadly, Hong Kong was only partially free.
Anyone else have ideas as to where they’d like to move?
There are a lot of young North Americans (with money) expatriating. I’m kinda with Jim Rogers, the future is where the capital is, and the capital is in Asia.
I’d like to do the NoState thing to although I realize that could be a few years off. You know what I mean.
Free state project is doing exactly the wrong thing: concentrating all libertarians in one place so they can easily be isolated and destroyed.
Follow the strategy of the guerilla: take over a place for short amounts of time, then when the state retaliates, withdraw to a different place. There must be libertarians everywhere for this to work.
Apparently, US libertarians just need to drop the facade and admit that they are a racialist movement, because the only places they ever talk about moving to are super-majority white: Ireland, New Hampshire, Vermont …
You could probably find some little hamlet in Meso-America, Africa, the Caribbean, or the Pacific archipelagoes where you would be free to do whatever the f*** you wanted, but I never hear about libertarians clamoring to move there.
I had not considered Africa & meso-america & the caribbean due to climate (I would prefer to be too cold than too hot), pacific archipelagos because I would probably need to be more wealthy that I’m currently (which probably involve being self-employed & having other credentials I currently do not have) & other concerns like distance etc.
If I were in a better financial position, perhaps those would be better choices. I’m mainly thinking about the mid-term, or whenever or if martial law is declared, which is something I frankly would rather not experience if I can avoid it.
Interestingly, a friend of mine previously considered Singapore, but they are opting for South Korea since they had already took up studying Korean prior to wanting to get out of USA recently (I wouldn’t want to live in Pennsylvania either, really).
When they move, I could probably have an advantage in knowing someone in South Korea if I bothered opting for it, but I haven’t read up much on it. A brief glance at wikipedia tells me it has a pretty well off economy with a good amount of economic freedom, though.
Although, I’m not sure if I could be so far away on good consciousness from family & friends, especially if/when hard times come down here, despite most of them being statists.
Guatemala is a crazy, corrupt, and dangerous place. I live off and on in neighboring Belize which is also crazy and corrupt but not so dangerous. Nicaragua is better than it is assumed to be, actually welcoming foriegn investment with relatively little mordida. Honduras has the prettiest gals. Lottsa big financial business (money washin) goin on in Panama.
Anyplace but Guatemala for me, very negative vibes as soon as you cross the border, the ruling ‘white’ class (sangre de espana) there have been practicing genocide of the darker folks there (Maya & mestizo) for many decades, the survivors are desperate. (note that my observation is strictly based on several travels through the mostly undeveloped northern regions, beautiful bush but such a sad history for the indiginous folks, besides the fact that they don’t recognize Belize’s sovereignty)
Living on the other side really helped open my eyes to the corruption that is also rampant stateside. I’m a USA citizen first and Belizean second and will be sure to be stateside when/if the sh_t starts to hit. Would hate to miss the inevitable ‘death’ of our current state.
PS - I am a mostly white american, although not a fat and ugly one. Only a racialist would even bother using the term ‘white american’ - one blood, one love, one peace

Liberia has a nice ring to it. Wonder if they’d welcome us with open arms or well sharpened machetes?
