it deeply offends socialists moral sense that you are a wealthy capitalist. i guess they are not objectively wrong to steal from you…they are subjectively wrong from your perspective and subjectively right from their perspective.
i dont actually see what your two moral perspectives add to the scenario over and above your mere preferences and subjective valuations. as i have stated elswhere your subjectivising morality takes out the morality and leaves you with what is moral anti-realism. but you had your subjective preferences even before you started talking about morality. so what benefit acrues from the mere pretence of labelling some of your preferences as ‘moral preferences’?
Legitimacy is good/bad? Where are you going with this?
Yes but you have no claim over resisting that illegitimate power except with power. They have no obligation towards you to reconginize that what they are doing is illegitimate and therefore can continue to do it. You resisting is in fact imposing your ideals onto that individual saying "I value liberty therefore I will resist you and coerce you into respect my liberty.’
I dunno, it’s kind of hard to tell people what sort of “liberty” they should accept without forcing it upon them. We should just send them to Iraq so we can help them catch the fever of freedom that’s currently spreading over there.
Person 1: **“**That 's not the correct liberty! Mine is!”
Person 2: “Nu uh!”
Person 1: “You better accept my liberty, in order to actually be free, or else!”
Person 2: “Or else wha-”
Person 1: “:shoots Person 2 in the face: FREEDOM!!!”
Every time I see a post of yours I wonder if you really don’t get it. Moral sense doesn’t necessarily entail moral SUBJECTIVISM. Your moral intuitions may be objectively right or objectively wrong. Besides, relying only on intuitions as you want to means that any sort of reasoning is useless..
You ‘feel’ X is wrong but other people ‘feel’ X is great. End of story. What an amazing philosophy…
The NAP is the only political principle that matters to me. I believe if the lifeboat lie were dispelled, it would be the only political principle that mattered to most everybody, because almost everyone has the basic sense that assault, plunder, and enslavement are wrong, but they make exceptions for necessary evils. If the evils were shown to be unnecessary, they would no longer make the exceptions.
