Federal HCAP Surveys Will Help Bring Down "Free Market" Healthcare

Someone I know who works at a hospital, was telling me the HCAP federal surveys, if the patients don’t answer “Always” they don’t get credit for it, and if the hospital does not score a certain score, federal government will not pay most of the medicaid patient’s bill.

They are already telling me how policies that don’t make any sense are going into effect to try and score wqell on this HCAP survey. Its already starting.

Of course the hospitals are willing particiants in taking the medicaid and medicare money, so they cannot say anything.

Yeah, I’d say the problem started with Medicare and Medicaid. There hasn’t been a free market in healthcare for quite some time.

exactly, it will help bring down what’s left of the free market healthcare…which is not very free…

that title didn;t have the same ring to it.

I was wondering why hospital CEOs don’t scream out int he media what the feds are doing to them with these HCAP surveys…but they are willing participants in taking federal money…

or do the federal agenices force them to take medicaid patients?

I’m reasonably certain they don’t get a choice. I work as a paramedic and we have no choice whatsoever regarding treatment and transport to the facility of the patients choice regardless of ability or willingness to pay. Hospitals have the same thing in the emergency rooms. I’m sure they might be able to deny services for really high end services but I doubt it considering liability. Even if they lose 80% of the medicaid/medicare revenue then they still get 20% for the care that they would have to render anyway. Not to mention that medicare/medicaid is the biggest show in town. Hard to just ignore it, especially when they’ll just pass a law that says they can’t if enough providers decided not to take the people’s insurance.
