A quick google search revealed some anecdotal support that food prices are increasing pretty quickly. I was spurred to create this topic after the price of eggs increased by nearly 50% at my store. I’m now paranoid that prices could take off any week now.
The BLS shows that inflation is basically negligible. Obviously I don’t believe it. What is a good alternative?
Why aren’t speculators bringing higher prices now? Does it mean there’s still a chance that food prices will stay low? Why don’t retailers just hedge near current prices? Who is protecting me?!
This topic is of very great interest to me, because I eat food.
[p.s. PROTIP - Day after thanksgiving - sweet potatoes were 10 cents per pound. Greedy kapitalists!]
