A while ago, Paul Craig Roberts signed his official media death in an article called “Truth Has Fallen And Taken Liberty With It”, lamenting that media publications don’t publish anymore.
Yet, this article printed all over Chronicles Magazine, Taki’s Magazine, VDare, Foreign Policy Journal, Patrick Buchanan’s official website, Rense, InfoWars, Global Research, Counter Punch, Information Clearing House, Anti War, Arab News, Before It’s News, World Reports, and the Creators Syndicate.
Again, the Creators Syndicate itself, a leading international distributor for columnists.
And a former presidential candidate and presidential advisor and a statesman who regularly appears on US national television also put up this radical’s views on his website, putting at risk much of his credibility. Buchanan, Rockwell, Fleming, Piatak, Theodorocopolus, and others have never overtly been 9/11 truthers in the first place (neither am I), but just imagine that they distribute this man’s writings. Piatak and Fleming themselves are quite careful with what they say but still support and read Roberts’ articles.
Of course, all this fringe media publications mentioned collectively would attract tens of millions of viewers, and it would seem Roberts is not exactly fringe.
I must admit - I don’t like Roberts. Roberts is pretty hypocritical to complain about “a cabal of elites”, when he himself has been a part of it; did he not advise Reagan’s government - the most corporatist, protectionist US government in recent history? Is he not a protectionist who would have consumers subsidise big corporations through higher prices? Did he not advise Reagan to double the deficit? Did he not make sure to save the near bankrupt Social Security and Medicare (a matter on which he loathes those who would remove it)? Is he not one of those who burdens common Americans to serve the powerful sector of American society?
And yet, I admire that a rogue member of the establishment so courageously denounces its militaristic and expansionist policy, and that so many willingly give him a hand in spreading his views. Somehow, the fringe media has become very powerful, and perhaps is a small but strong and well articulated opposition to mainstream media.
