It’s very poetic, he calls himself Comrade Michael, he’s anti-capitalism. I’d say around 75% of people my age talk like this guy, and act like him. I basically, meet tons of people who call themselves Comrades.
Is this type of beihaivour of the youth as common in the USA as where I live?
My school has something around 13% international (but this number is off as my school, I think, adds in its online students, who must be the reason the College of Business is ~50% of the school, when if the Mechanical and Aerospace engineering department made its own college, it would be the biggest on campus, and CoE is ~20%)
But from what I can tell is the ever fun reduce inequality, general unhappiness as the job the gov’t is doing, and with the astrophysics majors gov’t, just not the current is great.
Yes, it is common everywhere in the Western intellectual circles, and will remain so for quite some time. Though to be honest, no one is quite as batshit crazy about it as a whole as much as the French tend to be, but that is to be expected.
It depends. People’s understanding of socialism, what they’ve been taught in highschool, is something they are against. Not understanding the mechanics and economics of it, they think institutions like the USPS are mechanisms of the market. Or at best they admit they aren’t mechanisms of the market, but don’t understand why they are socialized in nature.
IE, people here(In the USA) believe in socialism, they just don’t know it yet, or call it something else.
We have our share of socialists, but in America it’s more the loony left that shows up; lacking any coherent ideology except for anti-capitalism and a hatred of bourgeouisie culture.
Well, the Marxists and old Progressives were quite a different creature from the culture-obsessed sexism-racism-patriarchy-everyone-is-a-fascist leftists.
From my experience I think most college kids in New York City just want to be able to smoke marijuana without any problems. Perhaps have some political leanings based on some articles they may have read here or there- but no real concrete beliefs. Very moldable people- but also more concerned with partying than starting any movements. But interested in finding out what is “true”(in all aspects of life).
It’s actually really comical, because these luny left actually define thier ideology off of the definition of capitalism. Normally you’d expect an ideology’s own definition being capable of standing on it’s own, without dependencies. But many on the left are so lost they don’t know how to define thier beliefs, so they just define it in the contrast of, or in the shadow of, Capitalism. It shows a great deal of lack of thought that goes into thier beliefs.
I have to agree with actionguy, thats more of what my high school was like- they were more after the legalization of pot and lowering of drinking to 18 or lower, but other than that, they didn’t care.
Then I go to college, and with it 23% LGBT student body (only 20% female- proof I went here for engineering, not a social life), its more of drug legalization, some ideology, but nothing truly concrete, besides the heavy southern Christian influence.

He is saying because without the capitalist starting a business within a capitalist system, there would be no businesses. This means that there is either capitalism or there is nothing. He does not take into consideration that the society might be socialist, granting people the materials required not based on exchange-value but on use-value, and therefore workers could start a business if they need more products.
The 2nd argument is that workers are too stupid to think. I like the way other people on this forum handle this argument. The argument holds that people are made of different metals, that your position in society is predetermined and you should not question your position. You can easily see why this argument is horrible. We are NOT made from different materials. This is a very cheap lie to keep workers in place.
