Generation We

“Generation We E”… as in Entitlement.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of nails suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly hit on the head.

Entitlement seems more apt than ‘We’; the ‘We’ should come with a modifier "only to the point that such individuals get what they think they are entitled to, do they think in terms of ‘We’ ".

If such collectivism describes such a generation, it would be rather fickle compared to previous, especially when such a generation is used to largely inaction in their lives, with the basics already provided.

But, then that leaves them highly exploitable by those with political power, though :\

Are you saying that HIV+ people should just die? Thank god the United Nations representing all the states disagrees with you and supports such programs worldwide.

The efficacy of such drugs has been proven conclusively. The survival rate of HIV+ patients who take antiretroviral therapy is statistically significantly higher than if those medicines were not available.

An emotional plea that will surely grant you brownie points w/ pundits at msnbc.

Antiretroviral therapy was not invented by government. When was government the inventor of science? When was science solely dependent on government to get anything done?

Why are you ignoring the individuals, & groups of individual scientists who worked hard to come up with the data, science, drugs etc. behind such antiretroviral therapies? Do you belittle the genuine need for such therapies & treatments, in a world with or without Statism, where scientists would see people are dying, suffering, & spreading an almost incurable epidemic & address it?

Sure, you could use the usual argument of government funding, but you must also take in part the role of monopoly capital (which includes government funding), which is usually used to prop up a limited number of monopolies, grew them beyond what a free-market would sustain them for without corporate-welfare from the State, all in the name of ensuring secure & sustainable business profits that the government eventually sucks off later on (artificially higher prices, monopolies absorbing other competition, inflation, taxes, etc.).

That would apply to scientific funding as well. I cannot currently point to a de-centralized, State-less method of achieving the scale of such funding that current HIV projects may require, but that does not mean it’s impossible to conceive of; to say otherwise is simply scientific & intellectual laziness.

The survival rate of HIV+ patients would, overall, increase considerably, without said State interference, if a de-centralized model was in place to keep comparable scale of funding in place, if only for the lack of red tape in acquiring therapy, treatements & possible cures. Another reason would be the lack of monopolies that current companies have over said therapies & drugs to help patients, who may desire treatment, but may not be able to afford them.

More welfare & state dependence is not the answer; throwing more money at the problem is the not the answer: science is the answer, & it probably pains many to even think that science might work more efficiently, develop faster, etc. without everyone else trying to put roadblocks in front of it to ensure some sort of “equality”, while never taking account of the unintended consequences.

Don’t just sit there and take it. This calls for a response.

Who will organise Generation Free?

Generation we is a generation of barely literate collectivists. Even though I’m the right age, you can count me out of it. Also, with the black guy with a shirt full of Hebrew letters, is that the new cool trend or something?

They’re worried about the US’s mountain of debt (an understatement), yet they want more of the same nonsense in the form of social spending, egalitarianism &c.? They’ve earned the current US. I hope it fucks them over royally.

I’m too old to lead. But I will encourage and help with heavy lifting.

I heard something about Hebrew and religious consciousness or something with the black community. Beats me. Religious mysticism mumbo jumbo. I don’t believe in the divine any longer…

To the extent they are surviving, it’s because they’re no longer drug addicted and no longer having an exponential number of sexual contacts.

I’m not saying they should just die necessarily, though if HIV is really the culprit, you’d get rid of it in a generation just by halting all treatment. In any event, you’d do far better in terms of numbers of lives saved and human capital added with iodide and folic acid supplements and DDT. Giving drugs to HIV patients who already have lowered life spans and are usually disabled to some extent is just not a lot of bang for the buck.

People are human beings, not slaves worth a certain amount of a bang for the buck.

They are not slaves to other people with AIDS either.

Desire is infinite; resources are scarce. Your charitable dollars are better spent getting nutrition to children and expectant mothers and saving farmers from malaria than feeding drugs to walking corpses.

But a socialist will argue that we have to save everyone. That even though resources are scarce, we must make everyone equally worse (or well) off. So thus we must redistribute until all are equal. So instead of feeding everyone enough to live, we feed them just a little bit less, in order to divert resources to AIDs infected individuals, not enough to help them but enough to say they were treated.

Ultimately, the two arguments that undo socialists, if they are intellectually honest is that (1) resources are scarce and (2) do no harm. If they acknowledge that resources are finite (obvious) and that taking from one to give to another does in fact create harm (obvious) then the entire argument for socialism, and FREE STUFF goes away.

Says the statist. God forbid people live with the consequences of their actions, how horrible us libertarians are.

Except the rich, the white, the religious, the successful, the heterosexual and just about anybody else who is slightly better than mediocre, they can all go fucking die.

I like how they claim to be well educated, and then claim that the education system is failing.

Ironic since you are promoting the governments of the world nannying these people and taking complete control and care of them. Isnt that a form of slavery?

Tyranny of Good Intentions says ‘No’.

I will! I’m sick and tired of the collectivism, the false hope, and the pain the state provides! SCREW GENERATION WE, IT’S ALL ABOUT GENERATION I, AS IN GENERATION INDIVIDUALITY! But I’m gonna need help, I can’t do this alone. We need action and we need it fast. If we don’t start fighting, we’re gonna lose any hope of winning, and as an effect, we’ll become SLAVES!!!
