I suggest handing out free copies of “Atlas Shrugged” on every school campus. Might be worthwhile to present some good role models, don’t you think?
Eh, maybe an abridged version. I think if the same people who did John Adams (HBO) made a series out of Atlas Shrugged, that would be much more worthwhile to give reference to those that are interested.

You should read up on what happened to Tom DiLorenzo when he got a grant to do just this.

Handing out free literature is all well and good, BUT ITS NOT ENOUGH. MORE MUST BE DONE! We need to take advantage of all the resources we can find. Books are a dying media. We need to take a more active role and start fighting for freedom. We have to stop being so reliant on education, it’s simply not enough! And also if you’re going to hand out free literature, you should probably start with Murray N. Rothbard’s Left and Right: The Prospects For Liberty.
Newspapers, T.V., magazines, & books are dying media. Long live newspapers, T.V., magazines, & books.
The old medias will never truly die in the sense that their use via novelty will always exist. The physical and non-physical properties of every media has it’s own merit’s as well, & old media can easily supplement new technology to stay relevant (i.e. electronic paper will obviously at some point be utilized by magazines, & possibly a modified version of it for newspapers to retain a “newspaper” feel, with each paper having their customized version of software & hardware accordingly).
This will occur with books, or at least be attempted, when electronic paper is cheap enough to be made in bulk (I would say in about 15 years, 25 at the longest).
Educating within relevant, present-day context should be stressed more, imo, rather than just handing out books, but you are correct; only projects like the FreeStateProject, alternate currencies, & other real world actions that are initiated to help further & prove certain theory will be able to gain more than the ocassional 3 or 4 via education.

Nitroadict, you have to understand that we live in a society where people have nano-second attention spans and are more interested in watching a Dramatic Chipmunk or an idiot telling them to “leave Britney alone!!!” than read Rothbard’s For a New Liberty. Our literature is going to have to compete with those thing, and, if we only have history to judge, we’re going to lose every time. And in 15 or 25 years it may be too late for anything to be done!
The FreeStateProject will most likely fertilise the seed for better Libertarian organisation, alternative currencies will only do a dent to the state monoply of money not much else, and other real world actions are our only hope! We definitely have to began thinking out those “real world actions” quickly, VERY QUICKLY!
Libertarians & Anarchist got a jump start with The Internet ahead of the mainstream. I think we’ll do fine in terms of media, but the usual problem of marginalization via The State still exists. Until the 9/11 equivalent for The Internet occurs, we still have time with his medium. Of course, we probably also have the means of making our own at some point, within various like-minded communities, so yea.
As for your call to action, I wouldn’t worry so much about the movement, but I would worry about yourself as an individual, & trying to come to terms with your ethics & morals (which, assuming that your are on this forum, might be in a bit of a conflict with The State, & the somewhat monopolized society The State subjugates). Fighting is good & fine, but even the strongest fighters get worn down if they don’t better their own situation.
We have BILLIONS of competitors to deal with on the internet. So I think you’re being overly optimistic. We’ll basically for the most part be preaching to the choir, hopefully it will get larger. We’re way overdo for AnCap organisations, I mean our idealogy has been here for a good 25 years now, come on it’s ridiculous, even the National Anarchist have organisations on a international level, and they’ve only been here since the 1990’s!
Yes, I can alway improve, and I will. But the soldier only gets worn down when he begans to lose morale, he gets discouraged when he sees no improvement and sees his enemies getting stronger. I haven’t lost my morale, but I am getting impatient, and to be frank, PISSED…

The kids in this video make me sick. They remind me of the snobs who think saving a few polar bears is more important than other peoples freedom and property. If “Generation We” includes me (I was born in '89), then count me out of it! I will not force anyone to do anything, save what has been voluntarily agreed to. In fact, this whole “Generation We” mess makes me feel like shooting a few polar bears with oil-laced bullets that were built by the hands of Chinese sweatshop laborers for extremely high profit for the evil exploitive corporation. It doesn’t surprise me though.
When my friends ask me, “What caused this crisis?” I always give them the answer that I can, to the best of my abilities. The government, by manipulating the currency, providing perverse incentives, and basically screwing over the natural processes of the market has engineered this crisis. When I point out specific acts, my friends look dumbfounded. Not because any of this is hard to believe; they tend to at least accept my views. What’s crazy is that I can remember such points of data in the first place! I have wanted to respond that while they watch TV, hang out in the mall, or whatever average 19 year olds do, I read. I read about things that interest me. Economics is one of those. For my peers, learning is a sin. It is uncool, and no one wants to catch the horrible disease that is uncoolness.
haha, I hear you, I carry around book and read in school and not one person has known Mises or any other economist. One time a person asked who Mises was and I just said he’s a pre-free market economist, and he replied with, “Like Bush?” I did not no what to say, so I just said not really. Most kids talk only about sports, which unfornautly does no interest me much. Hockey is the only sport I like somewhat, yet no one likes hockey in my school.
Keep fighting the good battle even if it is “uncool”. =]
I actually think handing out copies of Hoppe’s The God That Failed will be even more efficient, people who only bother reading the first twenty pages will be stronly challenged the doubt the mainstream opinions about democracy that feeds the state with ever more power today.
