It is never a big deal when a multibillion dollar corporation uses a few hundred thousand dollars or a million dollars to sponsor some event or an organization or whatever. Such an act need not even have the sanction of top management, but be merely the delegated discretion of the small PR part of the business somewhere down there. If that PR department makes a questionable decision, then whatever, it still will not hurt GM’s relations with its dealers and suppliers. As if hundreds of thousands of customers will boycott a company, because of one decision of one PR department in one regional office.
