Gold & Silver Investments

I am just getting into actual investing and have decided I’d like to own some gold and silver funds. The two I have in mind can be found under the symbols “GLD” and “SLV” (pretty forward eh?). I figured I’d post here to get some input from all of you on several questions of mine:

  1. The actual GLD and SLV funds I’ve given - what are your thoughts on these specifically?

  2. I am confident gold will be going up significantly sometime in the near future if only due to the insane inflation, but will it get lower before it gets higher? Should I be hesitant to buy it now?

  3. The ratio between gold and silver seems as though silver has been heavily undervalued and the price of it now is relatively low. What are your thoughts and expectations for the price of silver in the next year or so?

  4. Has anybody had experience with Peter Schiff’s company Euro Pacific Capital? If so, do you have any feedback regarding doing business with them and also would you recommend any specific foreign and/or precious metal investment options of theirs?

I understand that information regarding these questions can be found in a multitude of sources and I have looked into all of these inquiries. However, I would specifically appreciate input from fellow students (and teachers) of the Austrian School regarding my questions. Thanks so much in advance for your valuable input!

On point 4, I do not have an account with them, but I have met with folks from EuroPac. They are the experts in foreign investments. They are kinda pricey though since they are a full service brokerage. Their precious metals program is with the Perth Mint. Schiff thinks it’s a good idea, others here may not agree, since it is owned by a government entity.

Thanks for the input Vienna. They do seem a bit expensive with their services but I know they also help direct you as to how your portfolio should be set up so for somebody who knows really nothing about foreign investing that’s a big plus for me. Thanks again for your reply.

If you are actually interested in an investment in silver, or gold, go with BULLION. Not stocks or index’s. If you want information on why, reply to me. Or email me at maxxsocher.spykermetals@yahoo.com

Schiff’s company is good but quite expensive. Contact them to know their charges: they’ll be able to advise you much better than me but heed my word. Keep an eye on “exotic metals”, like rare earths, rhodium, palladium etc. I am not talking about actually stockpiling them but investing into them, most likely through companies specializing into selling or refining them.

As for gold and silver… every household should have some coins, really. Chilean 100 pesos are a good buy right now as gold coins go. As for silver you cannot go wrong with anything from Mexico.
