How can there be more than onepolitical philosophy on anarchy?

According to dictionary.com:

Anarchy

1. a state of society without government or law.
2. political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control: The death of the king was followed by a year of anarchy.
3. a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society.
4. confusion; chaos; disorder: Intellectual and moral anarchy followed his loss of faith.

Now by definition of that word how can people be intellectualy honest and call anachro-syndicalism, for example, a form of anarchy? How can people see anarchy as anything other than individualism and maybe to a lesser extent volunteerism?

Maybe they think the commune is not governmental control.

Ive seen the anarchists who are strict anti-capitalists. They want no govt. but universal health care? They were the Brit punks in the 80s. Very confusing and misguided group of teens. Kids who wore Reagan shirts with bullet holes in his head. They loved the chaos but wanted band aids when they got hurt?

Some also think anarchy means a going through some time warp to sword dueling and barter trade.

I blame the schools.

I think most people tend think of some combination of 1,2 and 4. I suppose punk rock bands did have their hand in this. The term itself has becoe a synonym for chaos for alot of people.
