I’m an anarchist myself. The media makes it seem like in an anarchist society there would be NO structure what-so-ever. But that is not true. You could organize temporary task forces to solve a problem, and, anarchism could borrow from libertarian philosophy to accomodate the theories which aren’t that well fleshed out in anarchistic thought. But the media makes it seem that anarchy=lawlessness. Why is that? I just see it as a way to view what the world could be like without government. It’s not that bad actually. I’ve been afraid for so long to speak out about my anarchistic views on other forums and in real life because of the bad name it has gotten over the years.
Anarchism = non-aggression. Non-aggression = peace.
Why be ashamed or uncomfortable to say you are for unconditional peace and freedom?
Because the “anarchists” are the ones at the G20 violating property rights and breaking the non aggression axiom (principle). They are rioting in the street and creating mayhem. Those “anarchists” are actually traditional socialists, who are complete retards. They have tarnished the label completely.
Secondly, the Media is a mouthpiece of the regime. The 4th estate. They maintain power by the cloak of ideology… proceeding to continually bash the threat to your power (opposing ideology, of no rulers - anarchism, non-archism) is a must. Hence the resurgence of Somalia, pirates etc.
Personally, I choose not to identify myself as an anarchist because I think it is far smarter to avoid the confronting stereotypes and imagery that have been beaten into the minds of the masses from years of indoctrination. Why start behind the eight ball? Why make it harder to convert someone?
Non-archist or anarcho-capitalist yes; if I am amongst friends or wish to be offensive. Austro-Libertarian, Libertarian, Classical Liberal, or a non label where I bash both the left and right paradigm without being able to be sterotyped, is also good.
I think I might start calling myself a “modern subjectivist economist.”
Voluntaryist, and to a lesser degree libertarian are good terms that haven’t been completely warped in common usage like anarchy and capitalism.
