I’m an Austrian, but none of my friends are. I can’t learn everything by myself, I need a circle of influence, i.e. new friends. How do I do that in my area, San Diego? This I think is an important question for all of us. I’ve been studying Austrian economics for about a year now but explaining it to them, and our country’s monolithic problems, is like talking to a brick wall. Please help, all my friends seem to care about is Facebook.

Could you be more specific on strategies you’ve tried? Perhaps where your audience is coming from? (I’m assuming liberals in San Diego but I don’t know.) This might help in getting answers to you.
Forget these people if you can, though this can make for a very lonely environment, which isn’t good for confirmation bias.
The uninterested in my experience get very tense when confronted about politics. (I assume because they don’t want to be wrong, understandable.) But pretty much everyone carries around plain assumptions on functions the government should handle, this can be used to your advantage.
Show them the case of the interventionist, you should be able to make their arguments if you reject them, and you will likely be confronted with a “duh, so what?” face. This puts down defenses and opens you up to demolishing these arguments. You don’t even need to show this is your position at first, just nonchalantly set up the opposing theories- I think the surprise can spark interest.

Besides mises.org, I read Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, lewrockwell.com, picked at some Rothbard, Mises, and Hayek. Read a few others on Peter’s recommended list (europac site).
Funny thing is I asked Tom Woods the same question I asked here. He responded the same day and advised mises community (you awesome guys) and possibly YAL. But is YAL specifically for college students?
