I am so sick of this crap! The Fed is a problem, but it is not the main problem for the economy. The problem is government spending!!! Why isn’t he pushing for legislation to have the government sell off Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GM, Amtrak, and the banks?!! These are the money pits that the government is dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into. Not only that, but the government is also dumping a trillion a year into its foreign policy! His bill will not even get rid of the Fed. And it is a fucking pipe dream to think that once the Fed is audited that it will make a difference.
I love how his campaign for presidency seemed to ignite a fire for freedom, but it seems like he has no clue what to do with it now.
Ron Paul never seriously believed that he could end the Federal Reserve, or anything like that. What he is doing is bringing people’s attention to a new line of economic thought. He is introducing people to libertarianism, and so he does this by emphasizing liberty in areas where he thinks he will attract the most heat and/or support. Apart from high government spending, the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy has been one of the most tracked during this recession, and so it makes sense to attack it.
In any case, I think Ron Paul has vehemently argued against the bailout, so I am not sure that we can accuse him of ignoring government spending. It just seems as if there’s not much he can do, within the legislative world, to curb government spending, at this point.
How does he not have enough time to push for that stuff? And what does having a channel on DirecTV have to do with anything? He does not have a channel right now to push for legislation to audit the Fed.
The keyword here is education. Ron Paul has reiterated that this is the purpose of his actions. Once the elephant in the room, the Fed is now the talk of the town. The man who’s shining the spotlight, as being shined on himself, on the Fed happens to have led many here. He is the Charon of of Voluntaryism/Anarcho-Capitalism/Austro-Libertarianism or whatever label rocks your godless boat.
