My grandfather who is senile and getting closer to death, let a cop come into his home who was supposed to be a friend. This cop put serial numbers on all the guns and such that my grandfather had been collecting for 75 years or so. These are older weapons not registered or with no serial numbers on them. The cop also registered the weapons with the state! I am so mad. I was hoping to inherit a weapon or two that the state had no idea existed.
Now, I do not even want them. I hate cops. I think he may have been hoping the state would confiscate them after his death so he could get them. My grandfather has quite a stash with weapons from WWII and such. German Mauser rifles, 1911’s and automatic weapons. Nice.
Yeah. The sad thing is, there really is nothing I can do about it. I can sure sue to make sure he does not confiscate them, but I what am I to do, to get the weapons removed from the state database? The state would automatically assume I was up to no good, simply because I want an unregistered weapon. Crazy.
I was thinking along the lines that the guns were devalued upon being defaced with state sponsored graffiti, e.g. serial number stampings. Perhaps the officer could be forced to pay for the damages ensued to the guns value while taking advantage of a person unable to grasp the consequences of his actions?
I know that children can have registered advocates to protect them from having their rights abused. I imagine there are similiar mechanisms in place to protect the elderly whose capacity to make fruitful decisions has been diminished?
Either way it sux. Have you spoken to the ‘law enforcement friend’ since? What was his response?
