I know that its old news, but I recently read about it. I however don’t understand why they didn’t write rape but sexual assault instead. Does anyone know? Maybe its my poor understanding of the English language. It’s my third language.

I can’t verify the story. But it’s disturbing if true. Does anyone read arabic and knows more about this?

The article is a bunch of nonsense, it lists a bunch of Ayas where supposedly you are allowed to rape women. Its such a lie its laughable- all those ayats speak of is who is innappropriate to marry(such as your sister/your mother, etc.)- and to only approach women who you are married to- and to provide gifts to the woman upon marriage. In all instances its speaking of marriage not of forcible sexual assault.

(Marriage doesn’t even refer to a sexual relationship either[which must be consensual], its a contract where you are obligated to take care of a woman who has no means to herself).

Of course you find it disturbing- it was written for that purpose.

Is there a word for religionist? I’m sure there is but I can’t think of it at the moment so I just used ‘racist’ in a general sense. I probably should have used the term ‘prejudice’, though in my experience racism carries a stronger negative connotation which I wanted to get across.

I am a moral nihilist so no, I don’t think so. :smiley: However, in retrospect it would have been in my best interest to use proper terminology and perhaps elaborate on my feelings toward rather than providing a short response using eye catching words.

No they’re not onto anything- its talking about allowing the leader of the time to take care of those specific women(the women must also agree to this)- widows of war, etc. Its not some all you can rape buffet. To even compare rape to something like that is just being dishonest and I personally find it pretty insulting to any women who actually went through rape.
