If they discovered the oil on my property, they still don’t own the oil. They could choose not to tell me about the oil reserves on my property and buy the land from me. And thus the oil.

Your agreement and partnership is required to prospect for oil on your property.

I lol’d. So true.

I disagree, You don’t need to be on the property. I think it is possible have sonar equipment on a plane that can penetrate the soil.

Who will pay for these things if they can’t own the oil that is found?

If they discover the oil and not tell the property owners what they are sitting on, then they can buy the land and keep the oil.

Buying the land will not grant them ownership of the oil if anyone can just scan it and start drilling it too.

Since you didn’t respond to any other part of my post, I take it that the rest of my points stand as given.

With that said, are you saying that you think children should be considered owned by their parents? If so, when do you think they come to own themselves (if you even ascribe to such a concept)?

If I make and sell a copy of a novel, am I necessarily claiming that I wrote it? If I make and sell a copy of a machine, am I necessarily claiming that I came up with the original design for it?

It’s best not to follow this topic with him, or start a new thread.

Don’t flatter yourself. I just won’t waste time responding to idiotic comments - they stand on their own.

Such charming grace. Clearly an excellent ambassador for the mises.org forums.

It does seem that things have taken a turn for the worse in my absence. I’m verry sad that the Mises Institute allowed the forums to disintegrate like that. I won’t return.

Time to take the gospel to a new land!
