Does this man’s actions constitute aggression through recklessness? The pressure not to leave a room filled with people undergoing severe physical strain as a group is very high. It is not difficult to create the conditions where someone can be pressured, via shame or other peer social effects, to undergo physical trauma that they would not freely choose to accept under less peer pressure. My knee-jerk reaction is to say, “you could have walked out or called out for help at any time but you didn’t, phooey on you” but then, I’m not so sure. At the very least, I think it is an interesting legal case.
