Is civil and economic liberty a false dichotomy created by politics?

For example, me talking to some one unregulated, or watching TV instead of spending money without government instruction is indeed a human acting is there any real distinction between the two philosophicaly?

no there isnt. but in people’s mind there is. you must understand that 99% of people dont give a mouse sized shit about economic freedoms. what they want is positive liberties. personal freedoms have an air of aesthetics around them. for many economic freedoms are just means to an end. besides taking away civic freedoms often causes more outrage. otherwise why would freedom of speech be the first amendment?
