Did you pay your taxes? Get a refund? Not even file?

Or perhaps a better question is do you know someone that never files?

Also, what are the basic legal arguments against the income tax that will hold up in a court of law?

i paid. for all my beliefs i just don’t like jail.

I paid mine and recieved my “economic stimulus package”. To do otherwise is too risky for my current situation.

Yep. I only owed $63 though because I have a lot withheld.

I paid and filed an extension to save on the interest.

I have a very busy work schedule and since I am a contractor I deduct alot of work related things like too, ls, computers. cat5 cables etc.

So my reciept pile is frightening and I work too much to tackle it but when I work too much I create a bigger pile of reciepts and get paid more to get taxed. So I just forked over enough money to buy a car that I would never buy because it is too expensive so I wont get hit with interest later.

Now I must be frugal until at least June. This week I am eating alot of potatoes.

We filed and got a refund. Our total tax burden to the Federal government was only $1000. However, who know how much we paid into Social Security and Medicare.

BTW, not filing or not paying will not land you in jail. They will simply garnish your wages.

I got a nice refund. Although I still paid way too much into Social Security and Medicare.

I know of one person who NEVER filed/files her taxes. She’s a real estate broker and she doesn’t report any of her transactions. Her idea is that since she never started filing in the first place, the govt has no idea to even come look for her.

Interesting side note. While I was in the military the government took .50 cents every month out of my pay check to give to some retirement home fund. I filed one complaint after another about that. I didn’t understand why I should pay 6 Dollars a year to some retirement that I might a. not want to use b. not get to use c. still have to pay for when I decide to finally go to a retirement home. My commander back then didn’t understand how 6 Dollars could be such a big deal. He failed to see the big picture.
