Jackson radically changed the American system of government from an plutocratic to a populist republic. Lincoln utterly repudiated any pretence that the states were sovereign, rather than departments of a national government. And Woodrow Wilson changed the plutocratic state into a theocratic empire.
Don’t forget the ratification of the Constitution - big mistake.

Haha not yet! I think my editor just put it up an hour ago, though. I’m sure I’ll be receiving “I hope you die” e-mails by tomorrow morning.
I was just talking to this guy who hated my Lincoln article and he was just like, “I showed people. They laughed. It was an amusing article, but it was wrong.”
I asked why. He said, “If they would have raised the tariffs on the South, we would have gone into a depression.”
I told him that I wanted them to take down the tariffs completely, not raise them.
He said, “Exactly. It wouldn’t have worked.”
Lincoln completely disapproved salvery?
Didn’t he support an amendment that would have made slavery permanant? He even thought it was Constitutional. Saying Lincoln supported abolition is like saying Spooner supported the Constitutional Republic.
There are times when he said that he disapproved of it, and then others when, like you said, he supported it as constitutional. The main reason I purposefully inserted that sentence, though, was because I knew who my audience would be. I didn’t want it to get into a discussion of whether Lincoln supported slavery on a personal level but I preferred a discussion of whether the actions he took were correct.
The reason you got stuck on that sentence is because you’re more well-researched than my audience of college students, so don’t focus on it too much.
