I need some good literature on environmentalism, its history and origins, and what is really behind it. Has it always been a scam from day one, or was it simply used as a vehicle for socialism further along in its history? A quick look on Mises didnt give me much on the history of the movement, and trying to google it gave me pro-green essays.
If you haven’t read THe Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism), I would read that. The Great Global Warming Swindle (which can be seen on Google Video) also mentions environmentalist origins.
I know of one German author who claims to have been involved with the WWF and other green organisations early on and who regularly comments on the development of the green agenda. Unfortunately, much of his work seems to be available in German only, but here’s an English sample.
I am near fluent in German so I will look him up.
Knowing that, I would recommend that you read his Backgrounds and Perspectives on Eco-Totalitarianism, part one and two. It’s long, but fairly interesting and well-sourced.
There are types of environmentalist. The historical one is known as anti-humanist. You find them advocating things like means of reducing the human population and Stalin style communism. Just google anti-humanism and it will all suddenly become very clear.
