Is some troll going around ranking everything with low stars? It seems almost all threads are 3 stars or less, even if there’s only one post on them. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a post# requirement before voting?
Good call Snowflake. It certainly looks like a troll effort although some trolls round here have a remarkably high post count.
I think stars have been mentioned/discussed before without much enthusiasm behind the concept. I too have noticed an abnormally low star ratings lately. Personally, I very rarely (if at all) rate threads and I try to ignore the ratings as much as possible (though hard to do with large yellow stars lit up next to each thread.
It seems the concept as implemented (at a thread and not a post level) is useless, at best. Even theoretically, how does one rate the quality of a process (a thread) which has just started or is yet to be completed? Just IMO.
No matter what thread it is, I always give 5 stars 
All I’ve noticed are much more stars, in toto, in threads the last few days. These silly starts tire one’s eyes.

Yes someone is going around putting 1 star on practically every thread. If you go back 5 pages of threads ago there are practically no ratings. Compared to now, where the vast majority of threads are rated.
I don’t even know why anyone cares; I never read of anyone going nuts over the feature to rate threads before (it kind of reminds of me attempting a numerical value on the subjective value of threads, and thus, a bit silly lol).
The stars feature should be disabled if it’s prone to spam / troll abuse, imo.
These type of comments and threads only give it more attention.

I pretty much ignore the star rating system. It would be inconsistent to argue against democracy and then make a big deal about the rating system. It’s an opinion system. I value some opinions and hold absolutely zero value over others, especially a troll who doesn’t add anything to the conversation. An average doesn’t work, and to me it is even worse than 50%+1 = 100%, while 50%-1 = 0%.
Seriously… its been a while…still the troll has not been IP banned.

It should be disabled even if it wasn’t prone to abuse. For these reasons: (1) it’s meaningless and faulty as a concept (members use it to express disagreement of opinion) and, more importantly (2) when abused (such as recently) it can easily discourage guests and new people that are curious about Mises and AE who most likely aren’t aware of the intricacies of the rating system. Who wants to browse a forum where most threads are rated 1-2 out of 5 by its own participants?
