I think Roderick Long gave a very good definition of the foundations of fascism in his piece “They Saw it Coming”

Does one have to be all of these or just a few? And to what degree for each one?
For instance, I’m a nationalist to the extent that I love America and think it’s a great country but I don’t think that homogeneous cultures are desirable. I support the military but I don’t think they should have absolute power.

I love what America is supposed to represent. At some level, many things are just ideas or concepts. It’s the concept of America that I find so appealing. A mostly free nation where people from all different places can come and pursue their own interests. That’s not what it’s necessarily become, unfortunately.

Sure, I like marshal values. Not externally imposed but internally imposed. Discipline, honor, loyalty. I personally find value in those things. I think the military can be a great living for certain people. I’ve met a lot of military people that I really liked.
Does he complain about the security threat of Chinese lending? Does he engage in ‘Buy local’ or ‘Buy America’ campaigns?
What it is supposed to represent is all based on the person in question. It is like the bible, you can find pro-slavery comments and you can find anti-slavery comments. It is utterly ambiguous to the reader.
Then I would say you are a militarist. Perhaps not overly zealous, but a militarist.

Mark Levin places the individual above society, and as such, is not a fascist. He is a statist, but statism =/= fascism. People like to abuse the word fascist, they throw it around in inappropriate places. It’s becoming quite meaningless.
Is he against the PATRIOT act? Am I correct to think that he is ok with torturing individuals in order to obtain knowledge for the protection for the US?

What America does to terrorists is not torture. Calling it torture is simply absurd and disrespects all of those who have truly been tortured.

I don’t listen to him, I listen to Savage. The very few times I’ve actually listened to him, he said things that I liked, for the most part. He’s an intelligent neocon who’s against the welfare state, but supports a big military. I’ve never heard him put “society” above the individual. If he does support the patriot act then he is most certainly a fascist.
