Mises Circles:
As I understand it, Mises used to get together small select groups to discuss economics. The Mises sponsored Circles tend to have little groups go off and do this. But does it happen more regularly at a localized level?
I was thinking of starting a misescircle.org or even just putting it on here, almost like Rotary Club meetings, that on Thursday 9pm at this perkins (coffee shop/ Library) there will be an Austrian Economics Mises circle meetup.

I was thinking about how cool it would be to set up a “Mises Circle Detroit,” but I don’t really know anyone who is interested in Mises around here. There are plenty of liberty activists in the Metro Detroit area, but Misesians? I’m not so sure.
Neat idea. I was thinking of giving a brief lecture and Q&A with anyone who was interested at a couple nearby universities. Maybe sow some seeds? It would be great if it could flourish into a circle… or better yet, a course!
There’s a local libertarian group that meets every week. I’ve never been, but I talked to one of the guys involved with it a few times (who seemed to be for the “fair tax”). I know that they were pushing for someone to get elected as mayor as far as local politics is concerned. If anything I’m sure it’s minarchist and Objectivist. I sure as hell don’t know of any Misesians in the area (but I sure wish I did).
That’s a shame. I meet with local libertarians once in a while and they seem to be Ayn Rand type of objectivists. I’ve met one pro-Misesian in the area and he’s teaching the elective political science course at a local college. 
I’ve often thought it’d be neat to have some sort of meet ups/circle as well. I know lots of other political organizations have them, and I have always wondered why I never saw any for AE/Libertarianism/etc.

I’m getting ready to move back to Kalamazoo (South West MI, 'bout 3 hours west of Detroit, iirc), if you ever get something like that going I’d be very interested. It’d be well worth the trip to congregate with some like minded individuals every once in a while.
Hell yeah, I know where Kzoo is. I live in Livonia. If you ever move back, hit me up with a PM or something. We need to get something going.
Libertarian meetup groups
I’m actually writing something on meet-up groups. I take part in one located in San Diego, California.

missed that one, the Librterians are most likely the best place to do that or start it. For me, it would be study group, where we would research and attempt to understand Rothbard, Mises, Hayek, and Shumpter.
Does anybody have an agenda for these meetings? Is it usually free flow or did Mises following a template or discussion agenda? How did Mises exactly run these meet ups? I have Campaign for Liberty meetings, usually about 30+ people, that too much for a scholarly investigation of a topic. I was thinking like 2-6 people at the most. Ocassionally, maybe a little larger group if we had like an awesome special guest show up.
Oh yeah.. apparently some sql overload issue at my hoster. It looks like it has resolved itself.
I’ll be back in MI this friday for sure. I’ll shoot you a PM sometime around then, and we can start getting some ideas thrown about.
