You know, I was about to start a post similar to this. I feel it’s more interesting to debate on sites where you are pretty much a loner in your beliefs. A site like mises, is kind of boring because nearly everyone shares the same point of view. You ought to go to places like commondreams.org. Now that’s a fun place to debate.
I use to thin this way, but it really gets tiring. People can get very stupidly emotional (as oposed to rightly emotional) and start talking bullshit. It gets tiring after a while.
Facebook is better for variety in a debate, due to the networking aspect.
If you’re feeling bold, it also exposes your views & arguments to people you probably do not argue with on a daily basis out of kindness and/or keeping the peace of relationships (i.e. best friends & family).
If anyone is interested in running (or even not) check out letsrun.com’s forum. Most of the stuff on there is not related to running. There is no registration, but moderators do pull threads that are overly offensive.
I’d love there to be some more libertarians on there, it’s full of statists, mostly leftys.
On rare occasion I post on digg or topix. It’s deadly. I hate it. It pisses me off too much. I can’t stand the tortured animal threads. When people advocate the torture and killing of humans. It pisses me off. Then I argue with them about the barbarism of spaying or neutering animals, an invasive operation, just because people can’t secure their animals, and want to forcibly alter their basic instincts because it is inconvienent for them. They can’t comprehend it. . /rant
