I’m planning to order some books from the Mises store, which I’m having huge problems tracking down elsewhere. But, I’m a bit confused about the shipping policy to the UK.
If I get Triple H’s Theory of socialism and Capitalism, as well as For a New Liberty in the same order, I am asked for £20 shipping. If I put them in a seperate order, it’s £8 shipping per book. If I add Garrett’s The Driver in with Theory of Soc/Cap, it’s still £8 shipping.
It’s a bit confusing- how is the intl shipping rate figured out? I can’t tell if it’s number of items, total price, or a combination.

Our shipping is based on weight. If you proceed to the checkout and enter your address, the next step after (but BEFORE payment) is the shipping for the weight of your order to the destination. The shipping estimator is not accurate for international shipments, except for Mexico and Canada.
We offer Media Mail as a shipping option, but it is limited by weight and only available for US domestic shipments.
The Flat Rate box is offered when possible but when certain items and or combinations of items are included Flat Rate no longer appears due to the weight and dimensions of said items.
So that is probably something for all internationals to realise?"
International Shipping for the Mises Store is obscenely expensive. I was going to buy Human Action but refrained when I found that the shipping price to Australia was more than the book.
It’s true, international shipping from Mises.org is “obscenely expensive”. That’s why I buy through Amazon.com (after clicking through from LewRockwell.com so they get a commission) or use local suppliers instead.
Our international shipping issue is entirely driven by what the UPS and USPC API’s cough up, and, to my knowledge, there is nothing that can be done. However: in the coming month we are working on a major overhaul of our warehousing and shipping and I’m optimistic that something can be done in this area too. The way Amazon does this is by having warehouses overseas but that is not really an option for us (right now), but surely something can be done to improve matters. This is something to look for in February.
In the meantime, I’ve found an excellent site for international buyers. It charges zero shipping fees and the books are cheaper than Amazon, Mises.org and perhaps Ebay too.
