The Socialists demand it.” Then he goes on to say that removing barriers will lower standards (obviously wrong, but this is pretty conventional thinking among protectionists), so maybe he fears the lower standards will create a desire among the people for an increased socialist state. The scandinavian welfare models are based on the trust that is inherent in those countries due to long historic stability and low corruption (or at least a perception of low corruption) and can’t be implemented in countries where such trust doesn’t exist.

TL;DR Take away from this article: Free markets are bad for health care because sometimes you have to ‘make choices’ and that’s difficult.
It may be possible to “vaccinate” soldiers against the trauma of war. By presenting soldiers with the horrors of war before they set off to fight, one doctor and his team hope to inure squaddies to anything they might witness on the field of battle
I would hope that by being presented with the horrors of war, the-would-be-soldiers would not go to war.
