This picture: stare at the dot for about a minute, and try not to blink. The swhirls around it will start to change over time, and when your done look away. I’m pretty amazed at this point (probably not good for my eyes).

You understand that Tom isn’t refferring to his own political philosophy when he says that the Union is a means to an end, right? When he says, “The Union is supposed to be a practical thing. It’s supposed to be a means to an end; not an end in itself,” it is like him saying, “I don’t accept the idea that the Union is legitimate, but even if I did, I would still allow for secession because the Union is supposed to be a practical thing. It’s supposed to be a means to an end; not an end in itself.” He is arguing the way Ron Paul argues.
