I was tempted to include Bob Barr v. Wayne Allen Root. I was actually going to include Randy Barnett v. Bruce Benson, but I’m not sure how many people, even libertarians, are familiar with their work. Maybe Thomas DiLorenzo v. Bob Murphy could be fun, too.

No, the work disappears, but we’ll have to suspend our disbelief in some of the pairings (e.g., Rothbard magically learned his economics from other sources).

To be honest; I’m very uncomfortable with this question. It’s like asking people to ‘not’ exist. I think that’s very disturbing. (Just a random point.)

  1. Ludwig von Mises, obviously. I have a vendetta against Marshal for all the graphs I had to draw in economics class.
  2. Oh, wow… This one’s difficult. I’d have to choose Mises, though. While we lose Rothbard’s wonderful work, Mises has just inspired and educated so many others that we couldn’t afford losing his work.

  4. Alan Greenspan (at least he’s eating crow now–as far as I know Volcker’s gotten away scot free).
  5. Ayn Rand because, even if indirectly, she HAS brought many people to anarchism and libertarianism–Stefan Molyneux being one example.
  6. Thomas Jefferson. As much as I like Ron Paul I can’t choose him over my own hero.
  7. Walter Block
  8. Bryan Caplan because that Anarchist FAQ has helped me so much.
