Online classes with the Mises Academy - Are they worth it?

I noticed on the Mises’ Daily Page today an article for the class: “How to Think: An Introduction to Logic.” I am very weary of online classes because the few I’ve taken to help with work were of questionable value at best. Still, I need to learn how to think. I would consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, but being “able to think” is probably one of the most valuable skills to have in a knowledge-based economy.

I noticed that this does offer a live video broadcast and a Q&A session after each lecture, which is nice, but despite the mention of participation, essays, and exams, I’m not entirely sure if this course will offer a satisfying amount of academic rigor. Has anyone taken online courses through the Mises Academy before? What did you like / not like, and did you find it was worth the money?

If you want to learn how to think, get the book “The Art of Clear Thinking” by Rudolf Flesch. Then get the easiest introductory book on logic you can find.

David Gordon is a brilliant man, but like everybody else, his lecturing style is not for everyone. Before you pay for the course, view some of his other videos to see if you feel comfortable.
