Or that is what I saw skimming through one of my sports message boards this morning. The body of the message went on to say “THANKS ALL OF YOU THAT SERVED IN IT”.
When did Americans develop this mindset that all these wars (past and present) are the only reason we are “free”? Seems like I remember a time when the general pubilc disapproved of war.
Maybe it’s always been this way and the rest is my imagination?
I don’t know, but this reminds me of what I read somewhere (forgot the source) that as nuclear powers can only go to war with third world countries, being a soldier would be less heroic in the mind of a lot of woman. Historically, woman were (are?) attracted to brave fighters, but there’s less bravery in operating a drone on the other side of the world than in keeping an equally strong infantry from entering your backyard.
