Just a threat. My friends came over and left beer cans everywhere and I told them to clean it up and I kinda…insinuated that if they didn’t we would have a problem. And they cleaned it up right away. No worries, no hard feelings.

did you insinuate you were going to hurt them physically, or withdraw affection, or did you just demonstrate that they had hurt you , or something else?

Hasn’t failed yet, my friend. I could make the argument that it’s runaway socialism that is tearing apart my favorite system. So even if it does fail, it will be argued that we never had a properly limited government.

I have friends that express all sorts of different qualities, they have strengths and failings, but we are at least ‘good to each other’. I hope you aren’t missing out.

I would like to think my stern approach to getting them to do what I wanted them to do was not in fact bad for the overall relationship, but instead instilled respect in them. Lol, that’s exactly the argument I make about the housing bubble though. I say it’s the Fed’s fault. Had the Fed not been around we wouldn’t have gotten excessive credit and thus a credit contraction because the market would’ve pulled the “punchbowl” away a long time before Greenspan or Bernanke did.

I don’t accept the other three points as being totally applicable to the US. The military is necessary. I do not accept any other position. Although, I understand other people will have them.

My chief concern is with finding a workable political philosophy. This site doesn’t have one. It’s so enmeshed in philosophy that it’s become disjointed from actual politics. I hope this changes eventually.

Also, the other thing you have to think about is that a little confiscation of property goes to protect the larger part. Without a large public military, the society will ultimately be taken over. That means a total loss of property and freedom.
