Paramilitary, Chiquita, Columbia, and exposing the state

I’m watching 60 minutes at the moment and they are talking about Chiquita and this paramilitary group that provided them protection. One of the guys that worked for them said that it was basically like a tax and they required them to pay in order to provide protection. This is exactly what the state does, and more violently, and this whole incident is labelled as criminal and as terroristic. Yet, this demonstrates what goes on everyday and in every nation-state and we’re just told, “Live with it,” or, “You live there so you accept it.,” etc. etc.

If people don’t know exactly what I’m talking about, I believe this was what was known as a Banana Republic.

What other incidents show what the state really is, but are viewed as purely criminal.
