Without the existence of a state (or more particularly, the US government) who would have been there to fund anti-communist guerrilla fighters all across Latin America and Africa? If the US government after WW2 had reverted to non-interventionism and eventually moved towards anarcho-capitalism the Soviet swine would have had free reign over the world, gleefully funding communist insurgents without fear of retaliation. In all likelihood the entirety of western europe would have been drawn into the Soviet sphere.
Communist and socialist thought is like a cancer, it has to be eradicated or else it will slowly spread. America did a decent- although not perfect- job of combating the spread of socialism and communism throughout the cold war, the end of the Soviet Union has allowed America to grow lazy. Hugo Chavez in Venezuela has nationalized company after foreign owned company. There was a time when this would elicit a (100% justified) coup attempt. I believe government should exist to protect property rights, and that certainly includes property owned in other countries. Incompetent leftists in Iran, Chile and numerous other countries were overthrown after their laughable nationalization programs and the countries were left better off because of it. Yet the CIA has done virtually nothing to ameliorate the situation other than a supposed half assed attempt in the early 2000s.
So folks, without a state… whose going to stop the Reds from rising up and tossing us into central planning Marxist-Leninist hell?

…us. If people decide they don’t want weapons in their home and don’t want to protect themselves from communist regimes, that’s fine with me. They can get taken over if they want, so long as no one touches me or my loved ones. In fact, the more communist regimes spread out the better. There will always be guerrilla fighters who are fighting for liberty in the world, and they will always find each other. Like the U.S. military, things can only spread out so much before they’re easily taken down. All it takes to bring down a regime is a book exposing the truth. Just think of the Spanish Maquis when Franco held power.
Since when did coups work? CIA coups are the reason people like Che and Castro got into power. What - do you want us to install another Shah in Iran? Congratulations on placing an anti-American sentiment in the Iranian people.

Capitalism is a system of free, voluntary economic exchange… Communism is a system of coerced, planned economic exchange… I don’t see how violence helps persuade people that a non-violent system is superior.
Lenin disbanded the Russian parliament after 75% voted against the communists. Now, if you cannot even get enough people to believe in communism in Russia I don’t think you need worry about them Rising up all over the world. A petty group exacerbated by the state.
I don’t know if you can wrest communism away from revolution and radicalism, specifically the ‘seizing’ of the means of production. Don’t forget that that has to happen first before the state gets abolished.

I remember reading something like this about Heinlein. The idea that liberty should be abandoned because of your personal dislike of communism is sort of like “Give me liberty or give THEM death”. Aside from that, the Soviet Union would have collapsed without US interference. I’d wager that it would have collapsed sooner without the idealogical support that was given to the state by conflict with the US.
Maybe he reached the conclusion that if the Latin American anti-Communists need American dole in order to defend from the Communists they are then pathetic worms and deserve to be overtaken! Not sponsoring coups in, we should be nuking the demonic countries that nationalize property of the Great Captains of Industry!
