Is it just me or is this series libertarian as hell? Knowingly or unknowingly they tackle loads of issues applied libertarian theory is interested in. It is not that they unmask statist absurdities all the time, but they do have one party always (knowingly or not) arguing for the libertarian view and they will take on themes that are just way out there, way beyond what would ever be a theme of discussion in reality. I am watching an episode now where the jury is considering proclaiming a drug dealer that gunned down two cops that raided his den not guilty. Where else do you get this?
Also they have the most libertarian character on television since Delboy Trotter. The wildly funny defense lawyer Douglas Wambaugh. The judge is a crank and a tyrannical and arrogant government employee though (albeit at least he claims to hate the federal government), but then every hero needs a nemessis.
EDIT: They let the cop killing drug dealer go. It was sort of a nod to Twelve Angry Men episode. Also they vanquished utilitarianism in the process, since for a while they were going to proclaim him guilty just to get him off the streets, but in the end reason prevailed. This thing is good!
