Yeah, Hitler is deemed bad because he stole from, enslaved, and murdered the Jews. Although, not for nationalizing industries (stealing other’s property), nor for conscription.
Stalin and Mao murdered tens of millions more than Hitler, but I guess they did it in the name of the common good (although Hitler did it too).
The only reason I see it’s the fact that Hitler lost the war and the Nazi party was wiped away. If the Third Reich and her allies won the war Hitler would probably have a nice mausoleum in some important city and Stalin and Mao would be decried as the wickedest men who ever lived. Perhaps instead of a day commemorating those poor fellows who died in the lager we would have a day commemorating those poor fellows who died in the gulag. Talk about first class dead and second class dead. As I said before history is written by winners, not by truth seekers.
But that doesn’t explain why in the rest of the world Hitler is reviled to a greater extent than Mao and Stalin, despite having killed many fewer people. My explanation for why that is so is that Hitler’s murders were racial, Stalin’s and Mao’s were for the ideal of equality.
Now, look at who controls today’s academia and you’ll see why there exists such a big difference in opinion between Hitler, Stalin, Lening and Mao. The last three being mistake revolutionaries who were, nonetheless, fighting the right ideals. The first being a murderous asshole.
Indeed, but most intelligent people are able to understand the (not very subtle) difference between violent racist acts and racist opinions - the act is what’s bad, not the racism. Racism, homophobia, religion - these are all morally neutral.
I am currently having an argument with a communist who argues that we should trust nothing Rothbard and von Mises say because they were racist and sexist.

Well, in one sense of the word he is, and I actually agree with the lefties in regards to the true meaning of the word capitalism.
Would you look at that, I agree with the lefties (perhaps only because the alternative is worse - agreeing with the Randroids).
No, they can often distinguish the two, but see them both as being morally wrong, or at least as being indicative of ignorance.
See, whilst many of the PC crowd might not see you as immoral for discriminating according to race, they will regard you as misguided, ignorant and backwards.
