Perhaps lobbyists? At best thats what the communities are, and gov employee’s. I’m not one to be against the rich. In fact I somewhat idolize those who have produced and introduced wealth into our society. Though I have to say that it is highly likely that the individuals of these communities have done neither.
Interesting hypothesis. I was actually talking a few weeks ago with this plastic surgeon in the D.C. area because I’m looking for internship opportunities during school, and he said that a ton of their clients are lobbyists, which is the case for most other plastic surgery practices as well. So clearly they have a lot of money and live at least semi-nearby.
Not a suprise. Nor is it a surprise that the average government worker makes nearly twice that of the average private sector employee, a statistic I saw recently somewhere. Opponents of libertarianism often flip out when we use the word “parasitical” to describe this phenomenon, yet, from where I sit, there’s really no other way to see it.
Montgomery County used to be in the top too. Of course south east DC and P.G. county have some very poor areas that have very high crime rates. Some of that bleeds into MoCo which might bring down the average. There is no way that lobbyists alone could raise the average so much, but the reason is certainly due to the federal government. Waaay too many federal jobs down there, had to get out.
