Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) Is soooo edgy!

Did you see him boldly trick celebs and conservatives into real life interviews and then make fun of them! Nobody except him makes fun of conservatives, celebs, and evangelicals it’s too taboo. He is so brave and fresh.

According to slate Ron Paul is one of his victims in his next movie

It’s true (maybe because I used to be a conservative) that conservatives are always bashed while liberals are totally let go. Why is this? I think it is their ability to use a faux philosophical aura to appear more reasonable? I mean, look at obama -he speaks well and is generally calm as opposed to crazy mccain with his “bomb iran” song. Of course just like in the platonic cave -it is we austrians who humbly represent the true reason and the liberals are just the pale reflections of that.

I would have to admit that I thought Borat was pretty funny. But you’re right: mocking religious conservatives is not very daring these days, and his next project sounds really stupid.

That’s why I like Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They make fun of everyone across the political spectrum.

he attacks liberals too.

like the time he interviewed ‘feminists’ and confused them with ‘lesbians’

‘Borat’ star fools Ala. Guard, trains briefly

he rox, can’t wait for new flick

Simulating a homosexual hit on a distinguished 70-year old doctor is 1) way more rude than funny (if at all funny), and 2) a ridiculously exaggerated if not false homosexual caricature that would be roundly condemned if the skit were by conservatives taking a swipe at gays.

I saw a lot of the sketches from ‘Borat’ and I thought they were funny. But my second impression was that if Cohen was attempting to skewer Americans (and a number of his fans said he was), then he was unsuccessful as they are shown to be an unfaillingly polite and tolerant people.

I found the whole thing to be far too smug to be at all funny.

What is funny about his smug, conceited attitude and his lewd behaviour? I think he’s just another high time preference idiot.

Hey Jon!

Awwww, come on, I am high time prefrence too, in regards to the computer.

Even worse were all the idiots parroting “I eat your shit” or “very nice”.

I look forward to seeing it!

How could Ron Paul tell who seriously means the madness, or is just playing it, after having been in congress for so many years?[<:o)]

despite appearances there isn’t really any conflict between political parties. liberals are the in-group, conservatives the out-group. conservatives these days are mostly just liberals with a few out of date ideas. They are out of date because over time the country moves slowly to the left. Take any liberal and transport them 50 years into the future and you’ll find that they espouse “conservative” ideals.

thus, people who want to get ahead note this and get on the winning side by trying to out-liberal each other. People who are currently to the extreme left can rake in the accolades of being ahead of the curve when the center arrives at their station.

Probably because he spends his free time long distance running instead of watching HBO.

I never really liked most of Cohen’s characters only because I think he’s often off the mark with respect to satire. I think he needs to go and study the greats of satire before doing any more projects, but that’s just me.

I agree with you 100% there. I wonder if it is cyclical, say in maybe another hundred years the left will progressive themselves back to supporting free trade and the conservatives will be the ones supporting whatever was the hip leftist economic philosophy of the time

I haven’t seen it, but the guy did the same type of trick to Chomsky and it was pretty funny. Being a linguistics guy, too, I especially appreciated this video.

He has the English chav (euro version of white trash) thing down perfectly. It’s funny that real chavs (like David Beckham) don’t know he is making fun of them.

And RP certainly handled himself better than cranky old Andy Rooney (“I’ve got fifty books on the English language!”)

This video, though, Pat Buchanan does pretty well. Though Pat is a hell of a smart person who is surprisingly on his feet when it comes to TV.

(fixed)

wrong link on the pat buchanen clip but i saw the clip with him on msnbc and i was laughing my ass off.

His Ali G stuff is funny, but the rest is really bad.

Would it be anti-libertarian if Congressman Paul had just knocked the guy out?
