I found the Austrian School about 5 years ago because I was looking for answers. Answers to deep human questions that inspired me to go searching for something that I knew was more dynamic than the common sense answers that had been thrown at me by an inept system of random information output. (e.g. my parents, school, television, the internet before it got good)
One day we won’t have to talk about how horribly bad it was before Google started indexing the web. We might move on to talking about how horribly bad it was having only one decent search engine. But when I was presented with the ability to search for relevant answers within a vast network of human connections, I found the answers to those deep human questions buried in the works of Austrian School theorists.
So today, I came to the realization that it is not only the logistical system of how information can be attained by consumers, but the entire experience of finding each piece of information.
People out there are looking for answers and many of those answers are hidden in the works of Austrian School theorists. Hidden in that they are either physically hard to find or mentally blocked off due to preexisting assumptions about the theorists or the dogma of the sources that point to the theorists or due to the outright discrimination based NOT on the theorists’ works but something else completely irrelevant.
There is a lot to do in order to make the work of Austrian School theorists more easily accessible and more neutral in presentation. Just to give one example, the Wikipedia articles on various Austrian School works and concepts are sparse, incomplete, or vague. But this is just one place to find information on those works and concepts, there is plenty more that needs to be cleaned up, expanded, refuted, or critiqued all over the web.
This bothers me. So I am going to start building a game-plan for how I can use my naturally limited knowledge and experience to do something about it. I don’t know how yet, but I am going to get a list together, prioritize, and try to change that state of affairs.
I have no fancy conclusion to this message. I just wanted to share my observation. Maybe someone else will find my message and either be reminded that it is also something they wanted to do or be inspired to do something about it also.
I think I might start just searching on Google (or maybe even Yahoo or Bing) for stuff I’m interested in related to the Austrain School and just evaluate it as if I had never heard of the Austrian School.
