Yes, unfortunately. In Germany they have a lower VAT on silver coins, only 7 instead of 20%. (They offer them up to 1 maybe even 5kg)

I don’t think anyone can predict the precise time that all this inflationary money moves to commodities after being in bonds and stocks, so the general answer to the ‘why’ is simply QE.
Isn’t it amazing how just a year ago mises.org was selling the silver coin for $32, which was like a 100% premium on the bullion value at the time? Glad I snagged several of them back then.

I’ve been having a difficult time determining the precise reasons for such a skyrocket myself. Until I do figure it out, I’ll just keep enjoying the ride. I purchased several thousand ounce coins over a few years when it was 14 to 18 USD.
The way things are going, when I sell all of my silver at the end of the year, I’ll be able to pay for medical school in one lump sum, with no debt! I am having a grand 'old time!
