Someone please tell me why this industrial waste (which the EPA ruled against them releasing this as a gas into the atmosphere) is healthy to drink?

This is an example that when it comes to chemistry, there is always a need for context, what is poison for a living being can be neutral or even food for another. So saying that fluoried should be banned because ozone molecules react with it is quite nonsensical.

look at the history. as i recall it was a state initiative, a corporatist one where a company who was buddy-buddy with the local government needed somewhere to dump their fluoride waste. they made some trumped up story about how fluoride was good for teeth based on questionable evidence. nowadays there are a lot of people who are pretty sure it actually is worse FOR YOUR TEETH let alone for your body (fluoride is a powerful enzyme suppressant, and enzymes are literally what drive your biological processes). besides vanadium is miles better for what fluoride is allegedly good for, that is teeth remineralization.

Just because something is "INDUSTRIAL WASTE!!!" does not mean it’s bad. It can be anything. Half of the products you use probably have some kind of “industrial waste” in them. It just means a chemical that is a byproduct of whatever process they’re producing with. It could be even be water. The point is that you need to look at the dosage. Whenever you look at the health impacts of any one compound, you need to remember that. Dosage Dosage Dosage.
The concentrations of flouride found in municiple water supplies aren’t dangerous. I work in environmental investigation/remediation. There is worse stuff to worry about.

speaking of dosage, who in the hell thought it was a good idea to medicate EVERYONE in the whole country with fluoride? is this not the fishiest thing you have ever heard? when fluoride was first being rolled out numerous doctors and dentists raised this same objection, but they just got steamrolled. remember that, unlike other chemicals, fluoride is DELIBERATELY added to the water.
plus to claim that a certain drug is not toxic enough to worry about shows a total misunderstanding of how the body works. it is possible for a not-very-toxic substance to interact with other substances to create a highly toxic mix. that is why you don’t just give everyone drugs at random even if those drugs are supposed to be safe. in fact, aluminum is a potent brain toxin, but we can deal with it mostly because it is hard to absorb. however, fluoride makes aluminum easier to absorb! in Brain Research, Volume 7 84:98, there is a study showing that the fluoride-aluminum combination allows aluminum to cross the blood-brain barrier, where it causes the same brain changes that happen in alzheimer’s sufferers.

besides, with regard to toxicity, it is the US Public Heath Service and the ADA that claim it is non-toxic, while the EPA claims the doses in the water are toxic. jeebus, even the state’s own organs (and the dentist’s union, the ADA) are admitting it is toxic.

Now, this won’t happen because the above behaviorists didn’t have many government friends (I hope).
On the other hand, there are lots of “medicate everyone with ____” ideas in the heads of just about everybody. Only some people actually have friends in government, or are in government themselves. One of them thought flouride would be nice and probably in some way increased revenue for their department at the time.

And that it is usually removed when processed at a treatment center, then added again, because of the nasty things that it kills that might get into the water as it travels through pipes? Funny things, minerals…when you distill water, it removes a lot of them.

I’m reasonable certain that the stated reason for adding flouride to the water supply is to reduce tooth decay. Other chemicals, such as chlorine are added to kill harmful bacteria.

Calcium flouride, sodium flouride, both are salts that dissassociate into thier respective elemental ions when they’re dissolved in water.
Really, it seems that your only scared of this stuff because it’s INDUSTRIAL WASTE! You know what else is INDUSTRIAL WASTE! A little chemical called di-hydrogen monoxide. Kills thousands of people every year from inhalation alone, not to mention the other dangers…
actual dangers have been listed even in this thread (enzyme inhibition, aluminum deposition in the brain). why post as if you’ve researched this, then openly admit you haven’t?
and still yet to be mentioned is the fact that fluoride is only ever prescribed for topical use on teeth, never for straight ingestion. even the CDC admits that the primary benefit of fluoride is topical, not systemic. the fluoridation argument is wrong on every level. like most anything, just look at the history and it will become clear what a sham it is.
